Choral Anthem for Girls and Boys with Piano

The Priesthood of God was written specifically for the 11-year old Temple and Priesthood Preparation event. It celebrates the doctrine of our Heavenly Father’s priesthood power and how both his daughters and his sons are blessed by that power, especially in temples. It speaks of the restoration of his priesthood and prophets in the latter-days, and also mentions, in more poetic terms, the two main priesthoods found on the earth. The heart of the song is found in the final verse, which emphasizes that God’s children are blessed equally by his power, and that they are to work together, as one, in developing their divine nature and ultimate destiny.
We hope this song will be inspiring for both girls and boys as they contemplate their future on the covenant path.

God has restored his priesthood once again,
to bless the earth in these latter days!
The power essential to his wondrous plan,
by which all of creation was made!
To the sons of Aaron, he’s given charge
of his sacred sacrament,
Ev’ry duty called to honor and enlarge,
serving as his instruments!

God has returned his priesthood keys of old,
to prophets and apostles once more!
To never again be taken from the world,
seers with knowledge are here as before!
Like the ancient prophet, Melchizedek,
who upheld this greater pow’r,
Heaven’s godliness is now made manifest,
through his servants ev’ry hour!

God freely gives his daughters and his sons
the blessings of his priesthood divine!
To guide and uplift them, equally as one,
in their quest to be like him on high!
In his holy temples, all are endowed
and are sealed as families,
in the highest priesthood order that is found,
blessed with endless joy and peace!
To live in joy and peace! His peace!
