The courageous example of the Anti-Nephi-Lehies’ love for their fellow man is told in this lively children’s song that encourages all to “lay down our weapons of war” and stand for peace and harmony.
VERSE 1
A long time ago,
Ammon taught the gospel to the Lamanites.
They became converted with belief so bright,
They never fell away!
They vowed not to fight
And buried all their weapons in the earth, so deep,
Then made a covenant with God to stand for peace.
They never disobeyed!
CHORUS
They laid down their weapons of war!
They would not fight with their brethren anymore!
Their hearts were full of love for God and man.
There never was a greater love in all the land!
VERSE 2
I can decide
How to act when someone is unkind to me,
I will choose the right and love courageously
Forgiving ev’ry time!
And I can be true
To promises I make with God and family.
Just like the Anti-Nephi-Lehies I will be
A source of love divine!
