SSA Trio or Choir with Piano and Optional Flute
Word & Music: Cris Conerty
Arrangement: Cris Conerty
Mothers in Zion is an encouraging tribute to mothers who have a unique, but challenging role in the Kingdom of God. The song was inspired by a talk given by Ezra Taft Benson, former president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in a Fireside Address, February 22, 1987. An optional flute solo gently enhances the performance.

VERSE 1
Mothers in Zion the noblest calling.
Yours are the blessings of heaven this day.
Out from His presence the stars are fast falling.
Open your arms that they might come your way.
Little One, Little One, for a time to call my own.
Little One, Little One, I will guide you safely home.
VERSE 2
Mothers in Zion the path may seem narrow.
Yours is a calling no other can bear!
Have faith in God through the seasons of sorrow.
Humbly petition Him in fervent prayer.
Little One, Little One, precious spirit from above.
Little One, Little One, I’ll be worthy of your love.
VERSE 3
Mothers in Zion the highest of honors
That man can give should be given to you;
Faithfully nurturing His sons and daughters.
Carry on! Carry on! God be with you!
