Lehi’s Dream teaches the story of the prophet Lehi’s poignant vision and how it applies to childrens’ lives today – encouraging them to hold tight to God’s word, so they, too, can receive of His most joyous gift – His love. The unique, minor-key melody and simple accompaniment make this an enjoyable and easy choice for young singers and pianists of all levels.
VERSE 1
While Lehi was sleeping, he saw a tree.
With fruit that was white, and oh, so sweet.
He called to his fam’ly to take the path.
“Lay hold of the iron rod and hold fast.”
So, Nephi and Sam, went forward in faith,
And came to the tree to joy in its taste.
VERSE 2
But Laman and Lemuel simply refused,
While others let go and were lost and confused.
Some chose to give heed to voices of shame,
Departing the tree soon after they came.
Yet, those who stayed true, and would not be lured.
Partook of the fruit and in faith endured.
VERSE 3
Sometimes in my life, great mists hide my way,
And I can be tempted to go astray.
But I know God’s word, will guide me straight through.
So, I’ll spend my days in search of His truth.
And in my pursuit, will come from above,
The most joyous gift: the gift of God’s love.
