How Do You Get a Children’s Book Illustrated?

We had no clue at first! But we soon found out that illustrator Facebook groups have amazing and talented artists!  In a Facebook group called Children’s Book Illustrators, on November 1, 2020, we posted an invitation to submit a sketch of a young, courageous Hebrew woman. This sketch from South African artist Althea Botha took our breath away, and we had found our illustrator! Althea focuses on watercolor and digital artwork – perfect for children’s book illustrations. Her concept of Mary Magdalene changed over time, and we are so pleased with how she brought our main character to life! We’ve also learned so much about the illustration process, that we hope to share with you in future posts, in case you, too, have a book you feel called to share with the world!
