Come, Oh Ye Christians – SATB with Piano

For SATB Choir with Alto, Baritone, and Tenor Solos
Words and Music by Alaina Larsen and Cris Conerty

We had a desire to compose a moving Christmas song that would encourage and inspire followers of Christ to joyfully worship Him at Christmastime and always. Tender solos punctuated with grand, sweeping choruses define this arrangement, with lyrics that recall the familiar stories of the SHEPHERDS and WISEMEN,  culminating in a final chorus that admonishes Christians everywhere to follow their example to “come to the manger” and celebrate the triumphant birth of our Lord and Savior.

Lyrics

VERSE 1
In a time long ago, in a town fast asleep,
A mother brings forth a secret she keeps!
While angels above rolling hills bathed in light,
Tell shepherds of a baby now born this very night!
(born this very night)

CHORUS 1
So, come! Come, ye Shepherds of the field!
Come quickly to the manger and in rev’rence kneel.
Come! Come, ye lowly, humble ones!
Come, greet your Master Shepherd,
God’s own begotten Son.

VERSE 2
In a land far away from this glorious scene,
A star, long-awaited, in heaven gleams!
While those who had watched for this heavenly sign,
Rejoiced to know the day of their Savior now was nigh!
(Savior now was nigh)

CHORUS 2
So, come! Come, ye Wise Men of the East!
Come offer gold and incense at His holy feet.
Come! Come, ye watchful, noble ones!
Come, greet your King Eternal,
God’s own begotten Son.

BRIDGE
For He was foreordained to save!
A ransom for our debt!
Come, sing praises to His name!
Lest we should forget!
(we won’t forget)

CHORUS 3
Come, oh ye Christians of the Earth!
Come worship in remembrance of His triumphant birth!
Come! Come, ye steadfast, faithful ones!
Come, praise your Lord forever,
The Savior who did come.

Remember your Redeemer,
God’s own begotten Son.
Come, oh ye Christians, come.
