Just pondering this brings tears to my eyes as I write.
The climactic final week of Jesus’ life – from the Triumphal Entry on Sunday to the Resurrection on the morning of the following Sunday – is the greatest week in the history of mankind. When I was a young mother, without internet, it was difficult to find resources to help me magnify the spiritual meaning of Easter in my family celebrations. Now, we can find literally hundreds of thousands of things on the internet.
One of the tools that will get you started is a well-crafted timeline of events (download the one above) so you can grasp what was going on that week. This is the best timeline I have ever seen and it is free for noncommercial use.
Note that the SPRING GREEN LINE far right belongs to our amazing Mary Magdalene who Alaina and I wrote a song and children’s book about. “Other Women,” also mentioned in our book, have a [YELLOW LINE] near Mary. Mary and the women stayed with Jesus at or near the cross, prayed for him, participated in the burial rituals, witnessed the empty tomb, and shared the incredible and confounding news with the apostles! Then at lower right, Jesus [RED LINE] meets up with our dear Mary Magdalene [SPRING GREEN LINE] in a singular, solitary moment in the garden.
