Friends, we’re thrilled to give you a sneak peak of a couple illustrations from Mary’s Easter Morning in advance of our eBook launch this Friday!
When we went into our illustration process, we decided to give our illustrator some sample sketches to share how we envisioned the basic blocking and intention of each page. Our illustrator found it very helpful! As an author, you have to decide how hands on you want to be. We found that we required a lot of input and the flexibility of revisions.
You will see Althea nailed our initial concept, and yet, some things didn’t fruition like we’d imagined. You’ll notice in these two images that Salome (in green) is turned in our final illustration. I had envisioned her sitting and turned away from the group of women, but when she was illustrated like that, she just felt very separate from the group. I also saw the rest of the women standing at a table. In the end, we chose to have them all on the floor, which brought them all together and was more accurate to the times.
So, even if you have a strong visual mind, be willing to try new things and take suggestions from your illustrator!
